Participating in the trip sponsored by Kenyaluk Medical Foundation and Crossroads Nazarene Church in July 2025 gave this old man immense satisfaction. Preparation for
the team required the work of Wilfred and Linette Kandie in the United States plus dozens of volunteers in Kenya from religious and civil society organizations, medical professionals, and government officials. There were a few hitches, but here are the results.

- Three days of clinics in which more than 1,500 people were seen by a combination of Kenyan and US medical professionals. Immediate needs were met, chronic conditions identified and referred to local practitioners for follow-up. In a previous post I mentioned a possible infectious disease identified by one of our US doctors. It was what she suspected, and treatment started.
- The hard work of local committees resulted in events which solidified Kenyan support and participation.
a. Government officials are committed to working with the clinic once it is operational.
b. Twenty thousand dollars was given a fundraising event and has been applied to the completion of clinic buildings.
c. Hospitals from neighboring areas sent staff to assist in screening patients. - Team members from the US are finding ways to meet needs identified during their time serving the Kenyan people this summer.
- The Kerio Valley where the clinic is located is a semiarid place that has experienced overgrazing and deforestation leading to significant soil erosion. Team members planted a number of trees and a tree nursery is in the works for the clinic grounds.
I was impressed on multiple levels with the work completed and the likelihood of plans to be accomplished. So, we have expanded the focus to include:
Project Mission: to augment the awareness of God’s love through a healing presence in the Kerio Valley in Kenya.
Project Objectives:
- Establish and maintain a ministry of physical healing through establishing a medical center
- Support spiritual healing through partnerships with local Christian communities
- Support the development of social and material aspects for those living in the Valley
Current need is the equipment for the medical center. Estimates to acquire the
equipment are approximately (approximately because you cannot predict the exchange
rate to buy Kenya shillings once funds are secured) $61,000. We have secured
$33,000. If you are able please consider helping.
